Sandra has painted for over 25 years. She paints in oils on canvas in what
is considered Realism style of painting. Realism is the term used for work
that displays the subject realistically in form an color.
Born Sandra Slade in Weatherford, Texas, but growing up in Purvis,
Mississippi she has traveled and resided in Maine, Rhode Island and New
Hampshire. All these places have beautiful landscapes and colorful
histories and are abundant with material on which to draw inspiration. Her
work is influenced by people and places where she has lived and she
paints from photographs and memory. Landscapes were her first interest
with Texas and Mississippi scenes her favorite. Her work celebrates
everyday things and times.
While living in Fort Worth, Sandra studied with Dan Brown of Benbrook,
Texas. Except for his instruction she is self taught. All her paintings are
original, signed work. None are reproduced except for web site use.
Some of the latest works are displayed here and the site is updated as new
work is completed and ready to offer. These pages include old barns,
lighthouses, floral, wildlife and snow scenes. Browse all the collection and
remember that comments and inquiries are welcome. She would especially
like to hear from other self taught artists.
